TLN Technology Committee Internet2 Working Group
January 15, 2002 at Northville District Library
Meeting Summary
Organization:
- The initial Working Group will be made up of Technology Committee members. Eileen Palmer will also participate.
The group will add other library members once the initial phase of work is completed.
- The group will try to do as much as possible through e-mail. Mark will create an e-mail list for the group.
Activities:
The Working Group will work to define:
- Scope and goals of activities.
- Possible applications including videoconferencing distance learning and other Internet2 applications.
- Funding opportunities including a timeline associated with applying for LSTA grants.
- Potential costs for Internet2 activities and applications.
- Practical applications that will show how Internet2 can serve to improve services for patrons and staff.
Assignments:
- Equipment and costs – Mark will contact Merit for more details.
- Grants: Joy will contact Eileen to see if she is willing to assist.
- Scope: The group will brainstorm ideas on the Working Group e-mail list.
